What You Need to Know
Recent research conducted by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) found the number of Black chemistry undergraduate students in the UK is proportional to the Black population of the UK. However, as we progress through the academic career pathway, numbers drop dramatically. In response to these findings the RSC set aside resources in their Inclusion and Diversity fund to investigate and address these issues.
This project had 3 core aims-
to establish a diverse and inclusive chemistry culture by conducting race related research and creating tailored interventions
to help generate well rounded early career scientists by opening and maintaining transparent communication channels, acknowledging and celebrating community successes and promoting opportunities
And to help develop well informed leaders and decision makers with evidence based tailored guidance and community specific support
